Austin Brown, M.S., B.S., EIT
Laboratory Manager
Mr. Brown graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with M.S. and B.S. degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering. The focus of his master’s degree research was the evaluation of substandard bridge columns under extreme earthquake loading. While completing this research he gained a wealth of experience in the shake table testing field. Austin was an engineering intern in the State of Nevada from June 2006 to 2010. He is currently working toward achieving his professional engineering license and is a member of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute. Austin has managed DCL’s laboratory since its debut in early 2010. His creativity and “outside the box” mentality has pushed DCL to new levels of achievement.
Kelly M. Laplace, M.S., B.S.
Project Engineer and Quality Manager
Ms. Laplace earned her Master of Science degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno, with a focus on water and wastewater treatment. She has over five years of engineering experience working for Stantec Consulting on a variety of civil design projects including: urban land, transportation, water resources, and water and wastewater infrastructure. Kelly has served as DCL’s Project Engineer and Quality Manager since early 2010. Her knowledge of code regulations and consistent management of the quality system guides the DCL staff in collecting, producing, maintaining and reporting data according to the highest standards.
Joshua Sailer, M.S., B.S.
Project Engineer
Mr. Sailer graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with M.S. and B.S. degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He has worked as an EIT in the fields of residential engineering and steel joint manufacture. While completing his Masters, he worked at the NEES shake table facility at UNR instrumenting and coordinating on a multitude of bridge and column tests, and gained experience in seismic testing and shake table functionality. Josh has been a dedicated member of the staff since early 2011. His knowledge and experience make him a valuable member of the DCL team.
